Toddler dragged under water by alligator appears to have died from drowning

It appears as if drowning was the cause of Lane Grave’s death. Graves is the 2-year-old toddler who was dragged by an alligator at Walt Disney World’s Seven Seas Lagoon.

It must be noted that no official autopsy report has been released detailing how Graves died. WESH reported that Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said that he believes Grave’s drowned after the alligator pulled him under the water. Demings told WESH that Graves and his father were in the swallow end of the water when the alligator attacked the child.

The toddler’s body was found close to the shoreline. Although Disney World has signs warning visitors about alligators and snakes on the property, there were no such warning signs in the area that Graves and his family were in.

Graves death is not the first death to occur at Walt Disney World. During January of this year, a family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Disney. A grandmother and her grandson were walking around the Animal Kingdom park when a snake fell out a tree. The boy was ok but his grandmother had a heart attack and died a couple of days later.

Two other incidents occurred in 2014. During that time, a 22-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman died on Disney’s rides. The 22-year-old woman, who had a pre-existing health condition, died after losing consciousness on the It’s A Small World ride. The 54-year-old woman died after losing consciousness on the Toy Story Midway Mania ride.

There have been several other deaths, as well as injuries, that have occurred on Walt Disney World’s property. Florida Bureau of Fair Rides is the watchdog agency that monitors the number of injuries and deaths occurring at Florida’s theme parks.
